Q: Why are we playing virtual cards and what is virtuals all about?
A: I'm making virtuals legal for play because this game is dead, there are no new expansions and as a player, I want some new stuff for the game. Virtual cards are created by a group of team from TeamCanadaOnline (TCO). It has 4 expansions currently and the 5th one is coming end of 2012. The cards are play-tested by their team before each release.
Q: But these cards are fake, is it even legal?
A: Virtual cards are the blood and sweat of TCO. They're given special permission from Comic Images to produce new cards. As long as you do not sell these cards for money, it is perfectly legal for print and play.
Q: 2 of the virtual expansions are rev4 (Virtual 1: Break The Walls Down) and rev5 (Virtual 3: The Legacy), does that means its only for revo cards ?
A: Rev4 and rev5 are just names to the expansion. It is actually 80% classics and 20% revos. Virtual expansions still based their game largely on the classic format.
Q: What can we look forward to these virtual cards?
A: There are many new and cool Superstars, new maneuvers, reversals, etc. There are even new cards to expand the current set of Superstars. With all these, we can look forward to a new dimension in game play.
Q: Why aren't there more Revolution cards/superstar?
A: One, its very hard to develop, and two, there seems to be a lot more interest in Classic and All Axxess development. Still, check out Rated RKO, the first cross-over Superstar which can be played in just about any constructed format.
Q: Some things aren't complete, like the Legends or the Enforcers!
A: Right. Legends is partly due to being added later, that's sort of a 'work in progress'. There's a few things left open for input, but don't be disappointed if your idea isn't chosen, even if it is a good one.
Q: The wording is off on this card!
A: Not surprising, I changed a couple terms partway through and forgot about others. It was more important to get the structure, purpose, and effects of the cards down instead. We can sort that out in the final stages.
Q: You're using Revolution wording, Ring, Ringside, etc.
A: Yes. Less typing. Not interested in adding more pointless words to cards just because that's the way it was always done. This is also the removal of 'the card titled', and stating that reversals end the turn when all reversals, by definition, do so unless otherwise stated.
Q: What have you got against Piper and Kennedy?!
A: They inhibit fun. But check their cards, they find new life and new structure to make them just as playable without making the environment less fun. Not sure if Andre should be kicked in the crotch more, but between the Backstage hate (Feminine Wiles, RTC, CM Punk) and the ability counter (Ruthless Aggression TB), not sure he needs more 'nerfing' than that.
Q: Superstar X just got a LOT more powerful with this card(s)!
A: Previously Superstar X sucked, or was just not competitive.
Q: Card X sure changes things a lot!
A: Yes, and? A big part of the key components here is to cut down on NPEs, not just the obvious decks, but the very structure of the environment. Too many things (Pre-match disruption, 40-reversal cards as a 'standard' for decks) have made the game less fun, and doing simple things like 'playing a maneuver' has become too dangerous to try... that's silly. It's a wrestling game, it should have.. you know, wrestling maneuvers in it.
Q: This isn't what I'm used to!
A: It's change. Let's focus on whether the change is good for change sake, not just a return to familiarity.
Q: But I think this should be changed.
A: Fair enough, present your thoughts. Be prepared to be challenged on them, not because of some imagined ego or pride, but because there may be something you aren't taking into consideration. Doesn't mean you're wrong, just means if the change is good and worthy, it will stand up to some inspection.
Q: This card doesn't make sense.
A: Please re-read it carefully. If you think its worded wrong, say so, but there's a ton of tricky, clever, weird ideas floating around. It's intentional.
...Hopefully that gives everyone a starting point on what we're working towards, and means to get there.
To update the above information, we are now moving into Revolution 5. A new year, a new set. In between, we've released the WCW Invasion as a small 'summer set' of just Superstars which both add a little something to the game - and prepare for some cards and things to come in R5.
More information is found in the "Virtual Raw Deal" thread, of course, and we'll add things here to answer the important questions as time goes on.
