INTRODUCTION
Finally.... after a long hiatus, once again I can say: Welcome to another revo article! This week's article would revolve around RP:Head as well as various Head Maneuvers and tactics. Hopefully by the end of the article you will realise some new tactics or gain some insight on at least the general flow of Head cards! With that, let's go a'head' with the article!
LIST OF HEAD CARDS
BRIEF RUN-THROUGH
In general, Head maneuvers revolve around Assaults and Extremes. For Assaults, the main theme that you could look into is abusing Rapid Fire Punches (PFP). Extremely strong card to have, and the more the merrier. While most cards pick up cards from Ringside or Arsenal, RFP allows you to pick them up from your Ring. Therefore, having 2 RFPs in your Ring would mean that you would be able to whack 1 RFP per turn. If you have RP: Assault, you get to retrieve 1 Hold and 1 Throw from your Ringside. If you have Climbing The Ladder, you get to draw every turn. A less aggro way of going about with RFP would be to make use of Dragon Sleeper every turn to recover 5 cards. By doing so, you are making sure you would recover the correct cards.
However, their Extreme counterparts are just as strong. With a wide variety of Extreme:Mean Heads, any superstar can benefit from them. And knowing that Extremes are harder to reverse, Thumb To The Eye and Eye Rakes come in handy to start your Fort. While not an Extreme, An Extreme Assault and An Extreme Beatdown both have strong effects that Extremists can strongly consider to pack. Another method of playing Head Maneuvers and capitalising on the discarding effect of RP:Head would be to run Flying Clothesline if you are an Extremist. Flying Clothesline forces your opponent to discard every turn, in line with the discarding effects of RP:Head. You on the other hand could draw 2 if you are running Climbing The Ladder. Coupled with the discarding effects of RP:Head, your opponent would be scratching his own head during his turn trying to figure out what to play!
With that said, here are my top picks for RP:Head and Head maneuvers as a whole.
1. Tommy Dreamer
With the sheer number of Extremes in this list, it is only understandable that an Extremist would benefit the most. Even with his Errata-Ed ability, it allows him to pick up an Extreme Maneuver from his Ringside every turn. His best Pre-match: The Innovator of Violence (TIOV). His best Extreme: Garbage Can Lid. With TIOV, you can choose what type your Extreme should be. And what better way to do so than by Garbage Can Lid which allows you to look at his hand if reversed. With hand knowledge, you will know what to focus on and what not to. Running RP:Head would be an additional bonus which could reduce their hand and the possibility of more reversals.
2. Sabu
Another Extremist to mention, Sabu is a natural fit for RP:Head and Head maneuvers. Firstly, his hand disruption ability matches RP:Head’s effects. Secondly, the maneuver base are either Assaults which he can pick up with Suicidal-Homicidal-Genocidal, or Extremes where he gain additional bonus for being an Extremist. Sabu abusing RFP is extremely effective. Plays RFP, discards 1 Assault for ability, picks up another RFP and Head, rinse and repeat the next turn. Either that or you can throw in a surprise Flying Clothesline for more discarding effect!
3. William Regal
William Regal is a powerhouse when it comes to Assaults and Holds. Although he can't pack 4ever: No Mercy, his ability makes up for that. There is a wide variety of Heads to choose from, but Knee Lifts and Dragon Sleepers are his go-to cards. Multiple RFPs and Roundhouse Punch will also ensure that he does not run out of Maneuvers to hit. Moreover, he has 3 Superstar Specific Head Maneuvers. With his ability and RP:Head, your opponent won’t have a much chances of having a hand.
4. Various superstars running The Rock IIMC
This idea is inspired by Tian Sheng's tourney winning Triple H deck running The Rock IIMC. The main focus of the deck is to keep using Triple H's ability to pick up Punch cards to retrieve The Rock’s Punching Flurry from Ring. Triple H would suit this tactic well since he is able to pick up Maneuvers from Ringside. Rey Mysterio might make an alternate choice since his ability doesn't restrict him to discarding a specific card to search for an Assault. Sabu's Pre-match would also ensure that you will never run out of punches to play. Same goes to Undertaker and Ric Flair with their original ability. The list can go on, but the gist is to make full use of The Rock’s Punching Flurry.
CONCLUSION
Head maneuvers do not lean towards a certain tactic, so feel free to play around and mix and match them with other cards. For example, Extremists can take advantage of the targets and run Steel Chain Shots and Flying Clotheslines together for maximum discarding effect. Either that or superstars with retrieving abilities can take advantage of RFP or basically just keep spamming Dragon Sleepers to stall out opponent. There are many other possibilities but that would be for you to explore. We will be covering the last 3 RP cards together next week before we officially end the 7 part special! As usual, do leave your feedbacks or comments below and we will look into them in the future!
Till next time, thanks for reading and have a nice day!
