INTRODUCTION
Welcome to another yet another Revo article! Thus far we have covered RP:Leg and RP:Arm. Hopefully they are of some help or at least gave you some inspiration for future decks. Those 2, as well as today's RP are generally easy to use and would suit most superstars. So always explore and you might even find out new ideas that haven't been touched on yet. Anyway, let’s zoom right in to this week’s topic of RP: Chest!
As you can see, RP: Chest is basically the go-to Pre-match card for recovery in Revo. Running this card however requires some preparation as it requires 3 Chests before activating its effect. Also, most decks would run at least 2 RP:Chest for the recovery effect to be more substantial, therefore it also means your Pre-match slots are more limited. Lastly, all cards recovered will be stuck at the bottom of your arsenal. Unless you have cards or effects that enable shuffling, you will eventually get stuck in a situation where all your maneuvers or reversals are together. Still, the outcome majorly outweighs the drawbacks as a successful stall deck in Revo will usually lead you to victory by theory.
Before we go into Superstar recommendations, here’s something about Chest that you might want to exploit.
Yup, hand disruption. Extremely effective. Most effective when played late game. This also leads to my top recommendation for RP:Chest!
Here are some superstars or cards that you might want to consider. Since Sandman’s ability heavily compliments RP:Chest, I will skip him as a whole and focus on other superstars.
1. Sabu
With reference to above 3 cards, Sabu naturally comes into mind with his hand disruption ability. This tactic is first used by Ansatz (Wen Huan) in the recent tourney. The tactic is quite straight forward if you refer to the list of Chest Maneuvers below. Majority of them are Assaults, which fits in perfectly with Sabu’s ability. Coupled with the above mentioned cards and some Colossal Extremes (Sabu stands to gain since he’s an Extremist afterall) with hand disruption tactics, your opponent should have a generally small hand most of the time. Don’t forget that Suicidal-Homicidal-Genocidal helps to ensure that you will not have that big of a problem with your handsize. Here’s his decklist for more reference.
2. Balls Mahoney
This might come as a shocker, but Balls is actually a suitable superstar to run RP:Chest. As stated above, you will often face a problem of having all your cards being stuck at the bottom of your arsenal. In comes this Inverted Body Block! Since Balls Mahoney is an Extremist, IBB’s effect would be activated, solving the problem of having cards stuck at the bottom. But why Balls? Because his ability allows him to search for the Follow-up every time he successfully plays an Extreme. And I guess by now, everyone should know that Extreme Cores are the most difficult of the 4 types to reverse. Therefore, as absurd and mono-idea this might sound, you might well be recovering up to 7 cards per turn if you run 2 RP:Chests.
3. Carlito
On first look, this superstar doesn’t really stand out. However, his second part of his ability, coupled with Hardcore Hell is quite strong. Hardcore Hell basically restricts your opponent from reversing your non-0F Cores from hand. If your maneuvers turn out to be unsuccessful, Carlito’s ability will discard his backlash. SO, without backlash, and restricting him from reversing from hand, your opponent basically just eats all your Cores. Also, a brief look at the list of Cores would show that most Maneuvers are Cores. And, the best part is this. Carlito’s ability lets you look at the top 3, choose 1 to put in your hand, 1 under your arsenal and 1 into your Ringside. However, since you are running RP:Chest, and since you can choose the order of your external effects, you can choose to activate your ability first to get that 1 card in your Ringside, then activate RP: Chest’s effects. Therefore, you are just gain 1 card in your hand at 0 cost. In addition to his backlash discarding, The Degenerates (which he is a part of) has the card Eat Spit that helps to further discard his Backlash.
*RVD was removed due to tactic error. Thanks Vincent for pointing it out.
4. Terry Funk / Elijah Burke
This tactic can actually be run by other superstars, but in general the above 2 are chosen due to their draw power. The general tactic is to run RP:Chest x 2, Man Of 1k Moves,Tomorrow’s WWE Legends, You’re Drafted, 1 or 2 more Pre-match, and Edge FX. Once Edge FX’s secondary effect is activated, your additional draw per turn will help to fuel your hand to discard for Edge FX’s effects to be used every turn without fail.
Activating RP:Chest will also help you to recover the cards you just discarded!
LIST OF CHEST CARDS
CONCLUSION
As usual, there are other superstars that I haven't mentioned that works well with RP:Chest and Chest Maneuvers. Kofi Kingston running Flying Kicks will work wonders due to his ability restriction, while Triple H’s constant retrieving ability will mean that he can keep reusing maneuvers that are reversed, plus he will be able to recover the card that he discarded. Santino can also focus on Throw Into The Ring Ropes and keep throwing Momentum-ed Chest Assaults for a quick win. All in all, Chest is extremely easy to work with, and no one should be complaining about constantly recovering, unless you are going up against it instead. We have come to the end of the article, so feel free to leave a comment or feedback in the comment section below and we will address them in the following article! Stay tune as we kick into high gear and tackle the more difficult RP cards over the next few weeks.
Till next time, thanks for reading and have a nice day!
