Handsize has always been a big issue for Revo. Having too little cards will increase your chance of eating the aggression rule, while having too many will mean that there are too many 'dead' cards in your hand instead of in your arsenal. Elijah Burke's ability looks to balance that out. On first look, his small hand and superstar value might not be as attractive as the rest. But as the game progresses, you will realise the importance of his recurring ability and personal handsize control. To further strengthen the handsize, RP:Leg was chosen as I can pick up maneuvers from my ringside to either play them, or to use for my ability. Due to different deck builds, I didn't play his Pre-match but do not overlook it as well. Anyways, here's the decklist for Elijah Burke that earned 2 pinfalls and 1 count-out!
Ability in case you are unsure:
<R> Elijah Burke / 2nd Reversal style / RP:Leg
Backlash (12)
Pre-match (6)
<R> Ring Psychology:Leg x 3
<R> Man Of 1K Moves x 2
<R> 4ever: No Mercy
Since this deck heavily revolves around RP:Leg and MO1KM to get his 0F maneuver, Judgement Day will prove to be a huge threat for the deck. Therefore, 3 RP:Leg and 2 MO1KM would be foolproof since either way, I will still be able to pull them off. The order of playing should be RP:Leg x 2, MO1KM, RP:Leg, MO1KM and lasting 4ever: No Mercy. As mentioned in the articles, to save space, the deck only contained 2 0F maneuvers and both maneuvers could be searched out by MO1KM.
Mid-match (6)
<R> Slow The Match Down To A Crawl
<R> Talk Is Cheap
<R> Keep Your Eyes Open Or It's Game Over
<R> I Can Do Anything I Want
<R> In ECW, We Never Back Down From A Fight
<R> You Hit Like A Girl
Sea of red since I am more than likely to have maneuvers to play through draw power and RP:Leg. Since the deck doesn't require any Antics, Talk is Cheap fits right into the deck.
Arsenal (60)
Maneuvers (31)
<R> Desperate Hold
<R> Scissors Hold
<R> Knee Breaker x 3
<R> Bionic Elbow x 3
<R> Double Leg Lock Crab x 3
<R> Dragon Sleeper x 3
<R> Ankle Torque x 3
<R> Sharpshooter x 3
<R> Ankle Lock x 3
<R> Figure 4 Leg Lock x 3
<R> An Extreme Assault
<R> Extreme Brutal Beatdown
<R> 4UP-percut Combo
<R> Burke's Flying Shoulder Block
<R> The Elijah Express
The main concept would be to exploit the targets of the maneuvers. Since Head-To-Toe Defense reverses both Head and Leg, the maneuvers in the deck revolve around those 2 targets. The only exceptions are the 0Fs and the unique maneuvers, as well as Bionic Elbow. However, since that card grants Momentum to Legs, I felt it was apt to include them. Coupled with 4ever: No Mercy, the Means (majority of the deck) in the deck will deal a minimum of 4 cards every time they are played.
Reversals (29)
<R> Second Solution x 3
<R> Overexposure x 2 - A must pack for Extremist due to its versatility in reversing 3 of the 5 maneuver types from hand.
<R> Try To Get Away x 2
<R> I Won't Be Beat Tonight x 2
<R> Masochist Of The Heart - Since ability allows recurring, no harm packing all these that reverse at lower Fort.
<R> Out Maneuver x 2
<R> That's Extremely Unoriginal
<R> Off Your Mark x 2
<R> You Telegraphed It - Similar reason to Maso
<R> Inertia x 2
<R> Welcome To My World x 2
<R> My Way
<R> Two For The Show...
<R> Head To Toe Defense x 2
<R> Centered Defense x 2
<R> Lateral Flank Defense x 2
<R> The Silver Tongue Pugilist
Reversals are straight-forward, with the inclusion of the 2 cards that reverse only via overturn. Most of the time not a problem since your ability can always bring them to the bottom of the arsenal for re-use purposes.
Overall, the deck is pretty effective in recurring and maintaining it's handsize. Throughout playtesting and during the actual tourney, the deck was constantly refilled with reversals and RP:Leg provided the maneuvers to play. That said, the deck does have its weaknesses. If his opponent re-shuffles your Scissors Hold and Desperate Hold back into your arsenal, you will be in deep trouble since your only source of starting fort is gone. Also, Triple H's Smacked By The Sledgehammer is still the most feared amongst the rest of the reversals. Work around this 2 loopholes and the deck will work very well for you.
