Hey guys! Wrestlemania XXXI just went by and I feel that it would be appropriate to discuss the growth and progress we have seen in the community; as well as address certain persisting problems. The purpose of this article is for us to also continue growing as a community.
Successes
1)Community growth -
We have seen numerous location sprung up across the country which they have all become hotspots for raw deal sessions and tournaments. This includes: SMU, superstar games@ Sim Lim square , the Late Jurong East MRT Wendy’s, Bishan Park McDonald, and many more.
Also, We have seen a steady stream of newcomers who have become regular Raw dealers across Different playgroups and our player base has seen a large increase in numbers.
Currently, I would dare say we have about 50++ odd members active/semi-active across the country and playgroups
2) Bridging into virtual, stay with the roots-
Many years ago, a large portion of the community quitted due to a perceivable image that classic raw deal was dying as “many people were jumping to virtual” ( I would still need someone to verify this claim as I came after the mass-quit in 2013). These time around we have been careful about bridging people into virtual. For the most part, we have seen a lot of newcomers to the virtual format and they have integrated well. However, in order to tear the remains of the wall down, we would need to make virtual even more accessible; e.g. make the cards accessible thru a printing service, have a virtual orientation class/programme.
Classic would still be a supported format in our community as one cannot play Virtual Classic without the classic cards nor the fundamentals skills/mentality developed from classic. Our roots are indeed the classic format as it is the only way to teach newcomers to the game about the card game named WWE Raw Deal.
Challenges
1) Which Banner do you fly/mentality of raw dealing-
The large increase in player base has also highlighted the different mentality to playing raw deal. Some would prefer adopting the mentality of always “Playing to win”, which would mean developing the top decks of any given superstar and being good in the game; while others would prefer playing the game just for fun and growing at a slower pace even though they might not be good at the game. Needless to say, we have seen conflict in the past week regarding this matter and the community is divided over these. All I can say is we should drop the hostility and just accommodate one another
2) Pricing of cards-
This issue has been around for a long time now and there’s nothing much we can do about it that could plunge the price of cards (Unless we mass quit in this game which is a no-no!). There are a lot of factors when it comes to the expensive price of cards; profiteers, online price of cards, or lack of awareness leading to someone being scammed e.t.c. . with that in mind, Prices have skyrocketed and I think they are already at their peak. However, with the rise of virtual in Singapore, I believe we can help newer players with the ability to not spend too much on the game by printing the Virtual staple cards like Revolution of the mind tb. Hopefully these would help to drop the demand of those hard to find staples which would in turn drop the prices of card. Also, we should look to moving to virtual further as a community to sway people from overpricing cards.
3) To whatsapp or not to whatsapp-
The large increase in whatsapp usage has seen a decline of content creation on this forum. These may have led to some believing that the game is dead as nobody is around. I am going to start creating content to make this forum more active.
Conclusion
I would dare say that the 2014/2015 year for us have been great and I really look forward for more growth within this community. Also, Lets all accommodate one another as we move forward as a community who loves WWE, who loves Wrestling, Who lovers WWE Raw Deal .
