INTRODUCTION
Welcome to yet another Revo article! This week, we will be starting a 7 part series based on the 9 RP cards. This plan was originally slated for future articles but since 3 of the 7 decks ran in the recent tourney used RP tactics, I guess it is only apt that I start to cover them too. To make life easier for you and me when forming these decks I will be listing down every CARD in the game with that target (inclusive of Pre, mid, antic, SS) for this, and the next 6 parts. Today we will be focusing on RP:Leg.
As you can see, RP: Leg is the easiest of the 6 target RPs to activate as you do not have a pre-requirement to satisfy in order to activate it’s effect. By successfully playing 1 Leg, you can pick up 1 Leg from your Ringside to continue playing. The bonus of -4F meant that you can possibly connect into larger maneuvers. I guess you already know that, so let’s go straight into who can capitalise the most on this card!
1. Jack Swagger
When you see his name, you can be damn sure it has something to do with Follow-ups and Working On The Knee just so happens to be a Follow-up with target Leg. Being a 5F card and knowing that 1 RP:Leg will -4F, you just basically need to get your 1D maneuver in to find WOTK, play it, and your opponent won’t be able to do shits about it since he can’t reverse if from his hand since there are no non-ss arsenal cards that can reverse Mean at 0F. Therefore, there is actually no need to even run 2 RP: Leg. Instead, you can opt for RP: Assault to retrieve 1 Hold and 1 Throw from your Ringside.
2. Ric Flair
Yet another obvious choice, Ric Flair’s ability (non-storyline) allows you to retrieve 1 Leg maneuver from your Ringside per turn at no cost. Meaning anything that is reversed can be re-used the turn after. Referring to the list of Leg Maneuvers below, you can also see that majority of the painful ones are Mean. Therefore, packing 4Ever: No Mercy would be a good Pre-match to pack. Another Pre-match that you can consider packing is Dressed For Success or Underestimate The Competition. Both cards require you to overturn cards. This actually helps to feed you and your initial small hand since your Ringside is basically your hand in terms of maneuvers if you only pack applicable maneuvers. Since you can retrieve cards constantly, WOTK just so happens to be a suitable. If you look at the text of WOTK, you will realise that the card can grant itself Momentum by discarding 2 maneuvers. That 2 maneuvers can just so happen to be the 2 Legs that you picked up from your Ringside from 2 RP:Leg. I wouldn’t recommend your Ric Flair deck to revolve around that, but you can consider packing it to cover your behinds in case of tough times.
3. Sandman
This superstar is the next logical option for a Leg deck due to his ability being non-restrictive to only once a turn. This meant that he can activate his ability as many times as he wants during each turn and since RP: Leg allows him to keep picking up maneuvers, he can just keep recovering. To add on to the recovery, he can also run RP:Hold as well to further recover Hold and Throw that he might not need from his Ringside. He can either go slow with majority of his Legs being Cores and running Hardcore Hell for protection, or he can go hard with early Means or Colossals. Steel Chain Shot is a nice Leg maneuver for him since Extremists gets 2F reduction for that card.
LIST OF LEGS
As promised, here is the tabulated form of Legs across the 4 expansions.
CONCLUSION
In general, there many other superstars that can link their ability or cards to RP:Leg. Superstars such as Stone Cold and Marcus Cor Von would benefit from the added reduction of Fort via their ability, Great Khali shouldn’t have a problem getting the Leg maneuver to play per turn, William Regal and Kurt Angle has stronger deterrence to reversing those Leg maneuvers, and many others. Look around and try to synergize your maneuvers well and your opponent will have be trying to break a leg to survive (pun intended)! Overall RP: Leg is the most versatile of all RP cards and it will suit almost any deck. You probably won't go too wrong with it if you are unsure of how to build a certain deck. Afterall the deck forming process can be fun too! As usual, I am prone to making mistakes so if you spot any mistakes or you have any feedback, please feel free to leave them in the comment section below and I will address them accordingly.
Till next time, thanks for reading and have a nice day!
